Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), the renowned British luxury car manufacturer owned by Tata Motors, has unveiled the highly-anticipated new flagship SUV, the Range Rover Sport SV, on a global scale. This high-performance SUV introduces a new engine equipped with mild-hybrid technology while promising remarkable performance capabilities.

In an intriguing turn of events, even before the official launch and price announcement, insider sources within the company have confirmed that the entire first year’s production, consisting exclusively of Edition 1 models, has already been sold out. However, specific sales figures were not disclosed for global markets.

The initial deliveries to overseas customers are expected to commence before the end of this year. Notably, all Edition 1 units are being sold exclusively through invitation in the Indian market as well.

According to JLR, the Range Rover Sport SV represents their most powerful and fastest production SUV to date. Boasting a 635hp 4.4-liter V8 engine sourced from BMW, this twin-turbocharged and mildly hybridized powertrain propels the vehicle. The latest iteration of the sports SUV is now simply referred to as the SV, omitting the ‘R’ suffix used in the previous generation. This exceptional model is the latest creation from JLR’s esteemed Special Vehicles team, embodying unparalleled dynamism and technological advancement.

Impressively, the Range Rover Sport SV achieves a 0-96kph (0-60mph) acceleration in just 3.6 seconds and boasts a top speed of 290kph (180mph). The power is delivered to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

Built upon the latest-generation Range Rover Sport platform, this new halo SV vehicle represents one of Land Rover’s final combustion-engine offerings. As part of its transformative Reimagine plan, JLR aims to introduce a Range Rover electric vehicle in the coming year, followed by the electric transformation of the Land Rover Discovery Sport, Range Rover Sport, Evoque, and Velar models starting in 2025.
